Mr. Hensrud is a 20+ year fixture of choral music in New York City, after arriving in 2001, he took a job in the Marketing department at Carnegie Hall, which opened up the world of professional music making in the city. Connections made there led to 10+ seasons singing with the Choir of Trinity Wall Street, where he participated in many recordings and performances.
He has premiered works as soloist by Nico Muhly, , Michael Gordon, Chris Cherrone, David Lang, among others, and works by Steve Reich as a small ensemble singer.
He has recorded with New York Early Music under Fred Renz, and is on the 2025 GRAMMY® Nominated album Requiem of Light, with the Clarion Choir, conducted by Steven Fox, and many other recordings.
He’s overjoyed to produce more small ensemble music for the community under Consensus, and looks forward to many more years of music making.
